Join us on an amazing adventure to 3 of Indonesia’s top snorkeling destinations – Bunaken, Bangka Island, and Raja Ampat. This tour combines amazing reefs full of colorful marine life big and small, and three fantastic boutique resorts that will look after our every need!

Our first stop will be north of Sulawesi where we’ll be based in the award-winning Siladen Resort. We’ll explore the best snorkeling sites in one of Indonesia’s oldest marine protected areas, Bunaken National Park. From the comfort of a lovely island resort, we’ll be able to explore all the area’s reefs with ease. Bunaken is famous for stunning shallow corals, a bounty of reef fish, but it’s most known for its turtle population.
We will make our second stop at the newly renovated Coral Eye Resort on Bangka Island. Here in Bangka, we’ll blown away by the sheer beauty and density of the marine life and reefscapes. If we’re lucky, we may see the resident dugong, known to cruise the shallow waters surrounding the resort. Although they’re rarely seen in most other parts of the Indo-Pacific, they’re regularly spotted around this magical little island. Bunaken National Park and Bangka Island are geographically close, the reefs, on the other hand, couldn’t look more different.

We’ll then snorkel Raja Ampat, from the wonderful Papua Explorers Resort, located in the heart of this famous archipelago. It’s the perfect place from which to snorkel Raja Ampat. Just a few minutes from the resort, there is a huge variety of snorkeling sites that play host to some of the most diverse marine habitats found anywhere on the planet. Expect truly pristine coral gardens packed with hard and soft corals that carpet the island slopes all the way up to the surface. Masses of fish life explode from the reefs, with good chances of swimming next to bigger fish such as manta rays, reef sharks, and schools of barracuda and jacks.

‘My husband and I had the great privilege of joining 11 other snorkeling enthusiasts on a Snorkel Venture 19-day tour of Bunaken, Bangka & Raja Ampat. It was an excellent experience from my very first inquiry to the moment we said goodbye to the group at the end of the tour’

Day 1 - Arrive in Jakarta
Arrive in Jakarta and make your way to the hotel where you can check in and relax. We will have a group dinner that night where you can meet the tour leader as well as the rest of the group.
Day 2 - Fly to Siladen Resort

Day 3 - 6 - Snorkeling from Siladen Resort
Each day will start with a buffet breakfast followed by a snorkel site briefing and a snorkel. Each in-water session will last 60- 90 minutes. The snorkel sites are about 10 – 25 minutes from the resort. We will return in time for lunch and then have some time to relax before our afternoon snorkel. Evenings can be spent in the lounge looking at Fish ID books, having a beverage at the bar, enjoying a massage at the spa or simply relaxing on your veranda.

The snorkeling in Bunaken National Park is really quite amazing. Currents are mild, the reefs are vibrant and expansive, and marine life is in abundance. The reefs are typically characterized by hard coral plateaus which start right at the shoreline and fan out around the island gently slope to about fifteen feet at the deepest end before they abruptly drop off into a wall. The area has done well with its conservation measures and its robust population of sea turtles is a testament to this fact. On any one snorkel, you can expect to see a dozen or so different turtles paddling around.

One morning will be spent out on the boat looking for the local super-pod of dolphins, sometimes found mingling with melon-head whales!
The resort can cater for most dietary restrictions, but please let us know if you have any in advance so that they can procure the ingredients.
Day 7 - Travel to Bangka Island
After breakfast at Siladen, we’ll jump onto one of the resort’s snorkeling boats and start heading north along the coast toward Bangka Island. Without stopping the trip is a couple hours by boat. We break up the journey with 2 snorkleing sessions so we get to explore the reefs outside Bunaken National Park, which are also very pretty and play host to some incredible species.

Upon arrival at Bangka Island, we’ll check into our villas at Coral Eye Resort and enjoy a delicious à la carte lunch together.
That afternoon we’ll jump in on the house reef for a nice long afternoon snorkel.
Day 8 - 11 Snorkeling from Coral Eye

After the morning snorkel, we will return to the resort for lunch, followed by another boat snorkel session. Afterward, we can jump in on the house reef, an amazing place to snorkel in the late afternoon sun.
Lunch and dinner are served à la carte. The food is all prepared by excellent chefs with locally sourced ingredients. We will enjoy some fantastic flavors influenced by Mediterranean and of course Indonesian cuisines.
There is also a tea and coffee-making station with fruits and snacks available throughout the day.
A selection of soft drinks, wine, beer, and cocktails are available every evening and are charged to your account.

On one of the days we’ll depart from the resort a little earlier than normal as we’ll be heading over to the critter capital of the world, Lembeh Straight. This will be a full-day snorkeling excursion with two-morning snorkels in Lembeh, looking for all the weird and wonderful creatures Lembeh has become famous for. We’ll then take a nice lunch at the Solitude Resort, followed by an afternoon snorkel in Lembeh, before making our way back to Bangka.
Day 12- Tangkoko National Park and to Manado
After checking out of Coral Eye Resort, we will be transferred to mainland Sulawesi where we’ll enjoy a guided tour through the Tangkoko National Park. As we trek through this incredible jungle we hope to encounter Celebes crested macaques, various species of hornbill, tarsiers, and the very rare Sulawesi bear cuscus.

After our rumble through the jungle, we’ll head into Manado City where we’ll check into our airport hotel, enjoy a nice big dinner together, and then get some rest.
Day 13 - Transfer to Sorong
After the hotel’s buffet breakfast, we head to the airport for our early flight to Sorong. Upon arrival in Sorong, we meet a representative from Papua Explorers Resort and transfer to the resort by boat, two hours away. Here we check-in, have lunch, and a resort orientation, followed by a house reef snorkel if time allows. Meals are served buffet style in their Seaview restaurant, which overlooks the house reef. A variety of Western and Indonesian dishes are served at their extensive buffets.

The resort can cater to dietary restrictions, but please let us know in advance so that they can procure the ingredients.
Day 14 - 19 - Snorkeling from Papua Explorers
Our mornings will start with a breakfast buffet, serving a variety of home-baked goods, fruits, hot foods, and juices. We then set off on the speed boats, accompanied by local snorkel guides, to some of the beautiful sites in the area. We will visit two different snorkel sites during the course of the morning excursion, each session lasting anywhere from 60- 75 mins, before returning to the resort for lunch. We will have boat and surface support on all our snorkels, as well as in-water local guides to assist and point out interesting marine life.

After lunch, we will head out to another site for our third snorkel session of the day. The house reef is always open for us to snorkel at any time you should choose.
The house reef is accessed via the resort’s private pier which has an easy-to-climb ladder and platform on the water’s edge. This makes for a comfortable entry or exit. The house reef is pretty spectacular and usually ends up being one of the highlights of the trip. The reef just in front of the resort is home to juvenile blacktip reef sharks, schools of fish, vibrant corals, and loads of cool critters. The beauty of the house reef is that you can snorkel it any time you want.
The snorkeling accessible from the resort is highly varied and arguably some of the best in Raja Ampat. In this Dampier Straight region, we’ll find a multitude of beautiful coral reefs, each offering something different. Some may be situated around unique topography with shallow swim-throughs, while others may just extend for hundreds of meters in every direction. We also have great hances to see manta rays as there are certain bays and islands where they feed and clean at different times of the day. We will also take the opportunity to meander through the famous mangroves where the mangrove tree roots seem to be an extension of the coral reef below.

The marine life is just as diverse as the types of snorkeling sites. The shallow reef tops are a great place to enjoy the rhythmic pulse of the colorful reef fish and admire the determination of the hawkbill sea turtles as they forage for the sponges at the base of corals. In the blue we never know what we might find, but we can count on larger schools of jackfish, batfish, and the odd tornadoes of barracudas. On other sites, we might get lucky with some cleaning or feeding manta rays. This area has the highest species count of anywhere in the world so really, everywhere you look you’re bound to find something truly amazing.
Day 20- Fly to Jakarta
We leave the resort on the morning boat transfer to Sorong, in time to get our flight to Jakarta where we bid farewell to our new friends. The tour ends here.
Siladen Resort
Siladen Resort and Spa is set around a large pool, with bungalows dotted around the manicured garden and beachfront. Each bungalow is equipped with ensuite facilities, air conditioning, and a private verandah.

Meals are served at a beachfront restaurant, tables are available under the rooftop or outside under the trees. The beach bar serves a variety of beverages and is a wonderful place to meet before dinner for a drink after a long day of snorkeling. The full-service spa offers a wide variety of treatments by experienced therapists.

The office, kitchen, and technical rooms are also located around this floor. Additionally, there is a large terrace that overlooks the ocean, a perfect space to relax after a long day of snorkeling.
