This is an incredible snorkeling safari featuring two of Indonesia’s best destinations for big fish and beautiful reefs – Alor and Misool. Experience snorkeling at it’s best!

Alor will be the first stop on this beautiful snorkeling safari. We’ll be hosted by one of the only resorts in this remote part of Indonesia, Alami Alor. We charter the entire resort which gives us unfettered access to the amazing house reef and the nearby snorkeling sites. Alor is still a bit of a secret to a lot of the world. Regardless, we’ve become very fond of the snorkeling here. The shallow reefs are very lively and remain in near pristine condition. Moreover, sightings of large cetaceans like blue whales and super pods of dolphins are fairly common from the boat.

Misool is the southernmost set of islands in Raja Ampat. This paradise is brimming with pristine coral reefs and more exotic marine species than you possibly count in a single trip. Misool Resort is the only resort in this entire – largely uninhabited – area and yet the comfort and style of this resort is second to none. Because of the amazing conservation efforts taken on by the resort, the surrounding waters are densely populated with sharks, rays, and swarms of fish big and small. There are few places on the planet which are comparable to Misool snorkeling.

Day 1 - Arrive to Jakarta

Upon arrival into Jakarta International Airport (CGK) make your way to our Jakarta hotel where you can check-in a relax. You will meet the group leader and group at the hotel restaurant for dinner and an intro to the following days.

Overnight and dinner are included.

Day 2 - Transfer to Alami Alor

After checking out, we catch our early morning flight to Alor. Upon arrival, we will be met by Alami staff and transferred to the resort 45-60 minutes away. Once there, we will check in to our bungalows, have lunch and an orientation. Thereafter, we will snorkel on the house reef before dinner.

Day 3 - 7 - Snorkeling from Alami Alor Resort

Our days here will start with a delicious a la carte breakfast, followed by a morning snorkeling session. These generally last anywhere from 70-90 minutes. Most the snorkel sites are between 15 and 30 minutes from the resort. We will return to the resort for a big family-style lunch and some downtime where we can just relax with a book or snorkel on the house reef. After lunch we’ll jump onto the resort’s two fantastic boats again and head out for another snorkel on a different site. Those who are interested can also join a guided night or sunset snorkel to see the magnificent mandarin fish doing their mating ritual just a few feet from the pier.

Muck snorkeling has become increasingly popular on our trips to Alor. It has some world-class sites that are right next to the resort. In just a few minutes we can see anything from frogfish, seahorses, ghost pipefish, a whole array of scorpion fish, flying gurnards, and so much more!

Day 8 - 9 - Transfer to Jakarta & Sorong

After a big breakfast at the resort, we’ll transfer back to the airport for our flight to Jakarta. Our flight to Sorong from Jakarta isn’t until late the following evening so we have plenty of time to relax at the hotel and catch up on some sleep or photo editing. We’ll check out of our hotel later that night and make our way to the gate for our flight to Sorong, which departs just after midnight.

Day 9 - Arrive to Misool Resort

Upon arrival into Sorong, we will be met by Misool staff and transferred to the pier where we will board our transfer boat. The boat ride can take 4-5 hours. The boat is comfortable, with food, a large restroom, and plenty of indoor and outdoor space. The region is breathtaking above and below the water, and the transfer provides a great opportunity to see the beautiful islands jutting out from the bright blue waters.

Upon arrival, we’ll check into our bungalows, have lunch and an orientation, and then a snorkel on the house reef.

Meals at Misool are served in the beautiful indoor-outdoor restaurant set over the water, with stunning views of the North Lagoon.

Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style, while dinner is plated and served. Tea is served mid-afternoon when baked goods, savory and sweet are served. The resort has a hydroponics lab and grows most of the ingredients we will be eating. Other products are sourced from nearby local villages.

Day 10 - 17 - Snorkeling from Misool Resort

Our days here will start with a delicious breakfast followed by a morning snorkel trip on the boat. Most of the snorkel sites are between 10 and 15 minutes from the resort. We’ll return back to the resort for lunch and a little downtime or house reef snorkeling, kayaking, and paddleboarding. There will also be an afternoon boat-snorkeling excursion daily. Each snorkel session will last around 60 – 90 minutes. We will always have boat support so you can take a break back on the boat if you wish. Local snorkel guides will be with us in the water and point out interesting creatures we may encounter.

Although the snorkeling in the Misool area is mind-blowing, the beauty of the house reef is that it’s so large, it’s feels like many sites in one. It has so much to offer, from reef sharks, big groupers, tons of turtles, bump head parrot fish, schooling reef fish, and beautiful corals, all with the added convenience of being just a few steps away.

A late afternoon tea is served every day which is then followed by a big dinner.

Day 18 - 19 - Transfer to Sorong & Jakarta

On our final day at Misool Resort, we will start with a big breakfast followed by our transfer to Sorong where we’ll check in to a hotel. We will fly back to Jakarta the following morning where the tour will end on the 18 of May, 2025.

Alami Alor Resort

Alami Alor is an intimate resort situated on a remote and quiet bay. It combines luxury accommodation and delicious locally inspired food. Our bungalows sit on the waterfront. The bedrooms are air-conditioned and have private patios, and open-air garden bathrooms. There is plenty of outdoor seating in the main common area complete with sofas and sun loungers.

The resort features a central common area where we’ll enjoy all of our meals “family style.” This is also a great place to relax between snorkels with a book, edit your photos, or just look off into the bay. It’s quite common to see juvenile blacktip reef sharks hunting in the shallows and pods of dolphins a bit further out.

Misool

One of the world’s most remote snorkeling resorts – Misool Resort – is neatly located on its own private island. The water cottages on the North side of the lagoon rise on stilts over a tranquil lagoon, shaded by limestone cliffs. Each one with a set of steps that lead into the water and the house reef, just a few fin strokes away.

The restaurant is set back from a white sand beach and serves up a variety of western and Indonesian treats throughout the day, as well as afternoon tea.

Both resorts will make every effort to cater to special dietary requirements if prior notice is given. (Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free etc).

Alami Alor Resort: Spacious fiberglass speedboats with enough room to easily store snorkeling equipment. The boats do not have a toilet onboard but do offer a full canopy for sun protection, There is also a ladder to help exit the water. Distances from the resort average ten to thirty minutes.
