In early 2020 we ran four awesome tours to Belize by liveaboard. We wanted to create a similar experience but based from a resort, ideal for anyone who doesn’t quite have the sea legs for a full week on a boat. Many of our tour leaders run regular trips in Indonesia but the general consensus was that Belize really does have amazing snorkeling and whilst it may not match the diversity in marine life compared to Asia-Pacific it must surely offer some of the finest snorkeling reefs you will find anywhere in the Caribbean.
This 8 night tour includes 7 nights at Turneffe Atoll and 1 night on Belize mainland for land tours. Turneffe Atoll is the largest coral atoll in Belize, located just 30 kilometers from Belize City. While the majority of the week will be spent exploring the area around Turneffe Atoll, we will have a day where we’ll venture out to snorkel in the Blue Hole, Halfmoon Quay, and Long Quay.
The reefs themselves are truly fantastic with a mixture of hard corals and layers of sea fans that actually break the surface at times. The visibility can be crystal clear allowing us to see all the way down to where the reef slopes into a vertical wall dropping into the blue abyss. Marine life is in abundance with everything from lobster colonies, schools of tangs and grunts, to groups of spotted eagle rays and even the occasional nurse shark can be seen cruising over the reefs.

Day 1 - Arrival
Upon arrival to Belize City, meet your driver and transfer to the Radisson Fort George for check-in. You can spend the day relaxing and enjoying the hotel facilities before meeting your tour leader and fellow tour members for dinner in the hotel restaurant.
Note: If you are joining the Feb. 24 – March 4 tour, you will still have an organized group dinner in the Radisson on this first night, however, your Snorkel Venture guide will not be present as they will still be at Turneffe Island Resort. You will meet them at the Island the following day.
Day 2 - Altun Ha tour and transfer to Turneffe Island Resort
After our hotel buffet breakfast, we check out and store our luggage at the hotel and depart for our guided tour to Altun Ha- one of the most sacred Mayan ruins in the country.
Note: If you are joining the Feb. 24 – March 4 tour this day tour will be organized and led by our partner Albert from A+ Adventures. Your Snorkel Venture guide will not be present for this day tour as they will still be at Turneffe Island Resort, you will meet them that afternoon at the resort.
Upon return to the hotel, we have lunch and then walk across the road to the marina where we board a speed boat for the 2-hour journey to Turneffe Island Resort.
Once we settle in, we will have a group dinner and an orientation.
Day 3 - 8 - Snorkeling from Turneffe Island Resort
Our days will start with tea or coffee delivered to your bungalows. We then meet in the dining room for breakfast.
Around 9 am we board our private boats and head to one of the many snorkel sites in the area, most within 5 – 10 minute boat ride. We will spend 60 – 90 minutes in the water for each snorkel session. We will be accompanied by local snorkel guides who will give thorough site briefings before we enter the water. They will be available to help with anything we may need, and to point out interesting creatures and fish.
We then return to the resort for a delicious hot lunch, before we head out around 2.30 pm for our second snorkel session of the day. Upon return to the resort, one has plenty of time to relax and enjoy the facilities before we meet poolside at around 6 pm for h’ors d’oeuvres, followed by a chef-prepared 3-course dinner in the dining room.
One day will be spent on a full-day snorkeling trip, with packed lunch, to Great Blue Hole, Half Moon Caye, and Long Caye.
If you are worried about food, please, don’t be. Besides the three mouthwatering hot meals served daily, there are all-day snacks available in the dining room and hors d’oeuvres served poolside every evening. One evening is a beach BBQ, another a traditional Belizean affair. Dietary requirements can be catered for with advance notice.
The resort has a gym, pool, paddleboards, kayaks, and Hobie Cat, all of which are available for guest use at our leisure.

After an early breakfast, we leave this little island paradise and return to the mainland. Here you can wait at the Radisson until it is time to be transferred back to the airport for your departing flight.
