This three-stop snorkeling adventure is all about getting off the beaten track and experiencing some of Indonesia’s most unique and least-visited reefs.

coral reef with snorkeler above

We’ll start our tour in the northeast coast of Sumbawa where we’ll have exclusive access to four different regions—Sumbawa, Sangeang Volcano, Gili Banta Island, and West Komodo—for some truly amazing and unique snorkeling. As these areas are seldom visited by people, you can expect pristine hard and soft corals in abundance, as well as busy fish life, and good chances of turtles, larger rays, and reef sharks cruising around. Around Sangeang Volcano, which is still semi-active, you’ll have the opportunity to swim over its bubbling black sands and hyper-rich reefs which are unlike any of the other reefs in the region as a result of its nutrient-dense volcanic substrate.  Out front of the resort you’ll find that Kalimaya has its own fantastic house reef where you are welcome to snorkel at your leisure.

Our second stop will be at Bangka Island, a remote island off the northeast coast of Sulawesi. We’ll be staying at the newly renovated Coral Eye Resort, which is owned and managed by the same folks as Siladen Resort. Here in Bangka, you will no doubt be blown away by the sheer beauty and density of the marine life and reefscapes just beneath the surface. There is also the possibility of coming across the resident dugong, which is known to reside in the shallow waters surrounding the resort. A very rare sighting in most other parts of the Indo-Pacific, but not totally unheard of around this magical little island. We will also have the unique opportunity of doing a day trip to the Lembeh Strait where we can indulge in some of the world’s best sites for critter snorkeling! Of course, Coral Eye also has its own amazing house reef which will no doubt be a place people spend hours exploring.

The final leg of this amazing tour will be spent in Raja Ampat, at the wonderful Papua Explorers resort, located in the heart of the Raja Ampat archipelago. Within just a few minutes of the resort, there is a huge variety of snorkeling sites that play host to some of the most diverse marine habitats found anywhere on the planet. Expect truly pristine coral gardens packed with hard and soft corals that carpet the island slopes all the way up to the surface. Masses of fish life explode from the reefs, with good chances of swimming next to bigger fish such as manta rays, reef sharks, and schools of jacks & batfish.

6th April 2026 - Arrive into Bali

Upon arrival into Bali International Airport (DPS), you check into the Novotel Airport Hotel and relax and recover from the long journey. There will be a group dinner in the hotel’s restaurant where you’ll have the opportunity to meet not only the tour leader, but the rest of the groups.

7th April 2026 - Transfer to Kalimaya Resort

Please note alcohol is not served at Kalimaya Resort

Meet the group and your tour leader for a buffet breakfast, check out, and go to the departures hall and check in for your flight to Bima, one hour and twenty minutes away.

Upon landing there, you will be met by a member of the Kalimaya team and transferred by car, for about two hours, to their stunning resort in eastern Sumbawa Island. Here you will be shown to your comfortable beachfront bungalows, before an orientation and dinner.

8th April to 11th April 2026 - Snorkeling from Kalimaya Resort

Days here will look something like this:

Wake up to a delicious à la carte breakfast with all the trimmings.

Then make your way to their large boat for the morning snorkel session. Each in-water snorkeling session will be around 60-90 minutes and will be guided by local snorkel guides and Snorkel Venture tour leaders who will point out interesting things while in the water. You will have a site briefing before each session.

Depending on the sites we aim to explore that day, we will return to the resort for a two-course lunch served family-style in the open-air restaurant. You will then have the opportunity to jump back on the boat for the afternoon snorkeling session. Or, if you prefer to take it easy, you can just lounge at the resort, enjoy the paddleboards, or explore the fantastic house reef which is accessible by the resort’s pier and beach, depending on the tide.

There may be a couple of days when we enjoy our lunch either on the boats or on a deserted beach where we’ll have a grand picnic as we explore sites further away, and then return to the resort after our final snorkel of the day in the afternoon.

One morning, after breakfast you will travel by boat to the island of Komodo. This island is one of the few that still has a population of wild Komodo dragons. Once you arrive, you get off the boat and take a short walk to the ranger station to meet your guide for the morning. Here one usually sees quite a number of dragons lazing in the sun. This is a fantastic opportunity to see the dragons in their true natural habitat away from typical areas frequented by tourists.

Upon return to the boat, you can change into your snorkel wear, as the group will have the opportunity to snorkel on the way back to the resort.

Dinner is a three-course affair which, like lunch, is served family style. Sumbawa is a very remote island and resources can be quite scarce, particularly when it comes to special diets. That being said, with proper notice they can accommodate most dietary requirements. Please let us know if you have any special dietary needs and we will make sure that information is passed on to Kalimaya Resort staff.

Tide and weather-dependent, you may have the option of an evening/night snorkel on the house reef, which is a lovely treat as the reef completely transforms after dusk. All the nocturnal creatures come out to feed, crabs, eels, rays, cuttlefish, squid, octopus etc.

12th April 2026 - Transfer to Bali

After an early breakfast, we’ll check out and transfer back to the Bima Airport where we’ll fly to Bali. We will check back into the Novotel at the Bali Airport where we’ll relax for the remainder of the day, and enjoy a group dinner together.

Rooftop bar and restaurant at Novotel Bali Airport

13th April 2026 - Fly to Manado & Coral Eye

The following morning we will catch our early morning flight to Manado, which will include a short stopover in Makassar. Upon arrival in Manado we’ll be met by the Coral Eye team team and transferred via private cars to the harbor, about an hour away. Once at the harbor, you will board the resort’s private speedboat which will take us directly to the resort, about thirty minutes away. After lunch at the resort, some time to unpack, and a resort briefing we will have the opportunity to have a nice long afternoon snorkel on the house reef.

14th April to 17th April 2026 Snorkeling from Coral Eye

The days at the resort will start with breakfast. The à la carte breakfast includes freshly baked bread, croissants, homemade tropical jams and preserves, eggs made to order, cereals, home-baked muffins, seasonal fruit platters, fresh juices, tea, and Moka coffee. Thereafter the first boat snorkel session of the day, with local guides who will point out and identify interesting marine creatures. The morning snorkeling session will typically last 70-90 minutes.

After the morning snorkel session we will return to the resort for lunch, followed by another afternoon boat snorkel session which typically lasts anywhere from 60-90 minutes, after which you will return to the resort. At this point, you may wish to jump in on the house reef as it’s an amazing place to snorkel in the late afternoon sun.
Lunch and dinner are served buffet style. The food is all prepared by excellent chefs with locally sourced ingredients where you will have the opportunity to experience some fantastic flavors which are influenced by Mediterranean and of course Indonesian cuisines.
There is a tea and coffee-making station with fruits and snacks available throughout the day too.
A selection of soft drinks, wine, beer, and cocktails are available every evening and are charged to your account.

18th April 2026 - Transfer to Manado

After a leisurely breakfast, you will be taken back to Manado where we will check into a hotel close to the airport. We will settle in and relax this afternoon. A group dinner will be available this evening in the hotel’s restaurant for those who want to join.

19th April 2026 - Transfer to Papua Explorers

We will depart the hotel early to catch our short flight to Sorong where we’ll be met by the Papua Explorers staff. They will take us, by private car, to the Aston Hotel for a large buffet breakfast. We will lounge here for a little bit while our luggage is loaded into the transport boat. We’ll board the resort’s private speedboat and then head off to Papua Explorer’s resort, about one and a half hours away.

Upon arrival we’ll be given a short resort briefing followed by lunch. After everyone has settled in there may be an opportunity for a late afternoon snorkel session on the house reef, time and current dependant.

20th to 25th April 2026 - Snorkeling from Papua Explorers

Our mornings will start with a breakfast buffet, serving a variety of home-baked goods, fruits, hot foods, and juices. We then set off on the speed boats, accompanied by local snorkel guides, to some of the beautiful sites in the area. We will do two different snorkel sites during the course of the morning excursion, each session lasting anywhere from 60- 75 mins, before returning to the resort for lunch. We will have boat and surface support on all our snorkels, as well as in-water local guides to assist and point out interesting marine life.

After lunch, we will head out to another site for our third snorkel session of the day. The house reef is always open for us to snorkel at any time you should choose.

The house reef is accessed via the resort’s own private pier which has an easy-to-climb ladder and platform on the water’s edge for a comfortable entry or exit.  The house reef is pretty spectacular and usually ends up being one of the highlights of the trip as the reef just in front of the resort is home to juvenile blacktip reef sharks, schools of fish, vibrant corals, and loads of cool critters. The beauty of the house reef is that you can snorkel it any time you want.

The snorkeling accessible from the resort is highly varied and arguably some of the best in Raja Ampat. In this Dampier Straight region, you will find a multitude of beautiful coral reefs with each offering something different. Some may be situated around unique topography with shallow swim-throughs, while others may just extend for hundreds of meters in every direction.  This area is also very popular with the manta rays as there are certain bays and islands that are known to feed and clean at different times of the day. We will also take the opportunity to meander through the famous mangroves where the mangrove tree roots seem to be an extension of the coral reef below.

The marine life is just as diverse as the types of snorkeling sites, the shallow reef tops are a great place to enjoy the rhythmic pulse of the colorful reef fish and admire the determination of the hawkbill sea turtles as they forage for the sponges at the base of corals. In the blue you never know what you might find, but you can count on larger schools of jackfish, batfish, and the odd tornadoes of barracudas. On other sites, we might get lucky with some cleaning or feeding manta rays. This area has the highest species count of anywhere in the world so really, everywhere you look you’re bound to find something truly amazing.

26th April 2026 - Tour Ends

We leave the resort on a morning boat transfer, in time to get our flight from Sorong to Jakarta where we bid farewell to our new friends. The tour ends here.
