Journey with us on board the beautiful Amira Liveaboard to the reefs of Misool in southern Raja Ampat. This 12 night snorkeling safari has been created exclusively for snorkelers – meaning no pesky divers on board. The real beauty of snorkeling in Raja Ampat via liveaboard is that we’ll have the freedom to travel where we choose, and you can be sure that we’ll be heading to the remote regions of the Raja Ampat archipelago to snorkel over secluded reefs packed with marine life. Raja Ampat is a massive area and really the only way to see the whole area – from north’s Dampier Straight to Misool in the south- is by liveaboard. We have chosen this to explore it via an iconic wooden sailing yacht built in the local Indonesian style known as a phinisi liveaboard.

The area we will explore can have some strong currents, which bring in the nutrient rich water that helps keep the reef alive and healthy. Our local guides know the area very well and will select protected sites, or appropriate times to enter the water to avoid being in current. If we are ever in a current, we will always float with the water and not try to swim against it. One needs to be comfortable in the water with some upper body strength to climb back up the ladder onto the boat.

This snorkeling safari is escorted by a Snorkel Venture team member.

Day 1 - Arrive in Jakarta

Arrive into Jakarta International Airport (CGK) and check into the Jakarta Terminal Hotel and relax until the group meets for a late-night check in for the flight to Sorong.

Day 2 - Jakarta to Sorong, Board the Amira

Fly Jakarta to Sorong. The Amira crew will be there to greet us and take us by car to the harbor for boarding. After our welcome, orientation and safety briefings, we will be shown to our cabins so that we can settle in.

Day 2 - 10 - Onboard The Amira

Each day begins with a “light” breakfast before starting a site briefing for our first snorkel session of the day. Each snorkel session will run for 60 – 90 minutes. The Amira will take us as close to the sites as possible, sometimes we will board the smaller zodiac boats and get dropped in the shallows.
All the snorkel sessions have surface support, and you can jump on a tender and return to the Amira if you prefer a shorter snorkel session.
After our snorkel we will return to our boat and dry off. There will be dry towels waiting on the dive deck for us. A full hot breakfast will then be served. After breakfast we hit the water again for another snorkel session on a nearby site.
We return to the main boat for a delicious lunch (either served buffet style or plated, usually 2 – 3 courses). After a little break to allow our food to digest, we prepare for the third snorkel session of the day. Afterwards, there is usually a snack and hot beverage served (you will not go hungry on this cruise!), before we enter the water for a later afternoon or sunset snorkel, depending on the conditions and sites in the vicinity.
Dinner is a 3 – 4 course meal. The Amira can cater for most dietary requirements, with some notice.

Evenings are spent looking through fish ID books, chatting in the spacious lounge or enjoying the night sky from the deck.
We will offer 3 – 4 snorkel sessions a day. You are not obliged to participate in them all. We will be spending much of our time in the region around Misool Island in southern Raja Ampat.

Day 11 - Final day of snorkeling

Final day of snorkeling with 2 scheduled snorkel excursions – before sailing back towards the harbor in Sorong. We spend the night onboard.

Day 12 - Disembark and return to Jakarta

After breakfast and check-out, we start preparing for disembarkation. We say good-bye to our hosts- the amazing crew of the Amira. We will then all transfer to the Sorong airport together and check-in for our onward flight to Jakarta.
The tour ends upon arrival in Jakarta where we bid farewell to our new friends.
Please speak to a member of our team before booking any international flights. We are also available to help should you like assistance with booking these flights.
