The wealth and range of snorkel sites found in the Philippines are incredibly high. Over 7000 islands make up the archipelago, many of which are uninhabited and covered in lush vegetation and white sandy beaches, and surrounded by fringing reefs, the beauty of this country is breathtaking. Aside from the friendly locals, stunning topside scenery and classic island beaches, snorkeling in the Philippines presents a dizzying variety of marine life to encounter.
With many islands brings ample choice as to where you go on your snorkeling vacation, some of our favourites destinations include:
Malapascua which is located at the northern end of the Visayas Island group. It is one of the only places in the world where it is possible to see thresher sharks. There is also plenty of great snorkeling here.
At Moal Boal you have a range of rich reefs, giant turtles and even whale shark sightings.
Further south around Dauin, is home to all manner of rare and exquisite marine life – frogfish, ghost pipefish, flamboyant cuttlefish and many more make for excitingly regular sightings. Apo Island is just 30 minutes boat away offshore and offers excellent snorkeling opportunities over pristine reefs.
