Join us on this incredible snorkeling safari featuring two of Indonesia’s best destinations for big fish and beautiful reefs – Komodo and Misool in Raja Ampat!
Komodo is one of the premier snorkeling regions of Indonesia and we’ll be based at the beautiful Komodo Resort for the first leg of this tour. This resort is situated on its own private island complete with hiking trails, a spa, gym, decadent meals, and an outstanding house reef. Better yet, the resort is on the door steps to the boundary of the national park where we will encounter turtles, reef sharks, cephalopods, and almost certainly giant manta rays!
Misool is the southernmost set of islands in Raja Ampat, and is truly a paradise brimming with pristine coral reefs and more exotic marine species than you possibly count in a single trip. Misool Resort is the only resort in this entire – largely uninhabited – area and yet the comfort and style of this resort is second to none. Because of the amazing conservation efforts taken on by the resort, the surrounding waters are densely populated with sharks, rays, and swarms of fish big and small.

20th May 2024 - Arrive to Bali
21st May 2024 - Transfer to Komodo Resort
21st - 28th May - Snorkeling from Komodo Resort
Our time at Komodo Resort will be spent as follows:
After breakfast we will make our way to the boat for the morning snorkel session. You will typically have two morning snorkels with each in-water snorkeling session lasting around 60-90 minutes. The snorkels will be guided by local snorkel guides and your Snorkel Venture tour leader who will point out interesting things while in the water. We will have a site briefing before each session.
Each day will run a little differently depending on where we are going for the snorkels. On some days we will go for the two-morning snorkels and return to the resort for lunch. On other days we will have lunch on board the boat so we can explore a bit further into the marine park before returning to the resort. The house reef is always open and arguably one of the best reefs in the area, so on some days we will do the afternoon session on the house reef.
Of course, you are always welcome to snorkel the house reef at your leisure. It can be accessed off the pier or the beach at high tide. There is always a lookout person watching out in case of any problems. If you should get stuck in a current they will send a small tender boat to pick you up. If the current is running fast, they can drop you off a ways away from the resort and you can drift slowly back towards the pier to exit the water on one of the wooden ladders.
One morning, after breakfast we will travel by boat for about 90 minutes to the island of Komodo. This island is one of the few that still has a population of wild Komodo dragons. Once we arrive, we get off the boat and take a short walk with a local park ranger to the watering hole and beyond. Here one usually sees quite a number of dragons lazing around. On this hour-long trek around Komodo it’s very likely we’ll encounter deer, buffalo, wild boar, and various species of birds. There are some small curious shops near the ranger station as well for some local souvenirs.
Upon return to the boat, we can change into your snorkel wear, as the group will have the opportunity to snorkel two sites on the way back to the resort. On this day, lunch is served on the boat.
Tide and weather dependent, we may have the option of an evening/night snorkel on the house reef, which is a lovely treat as the reef completely transforms after dusk. All the nocturnal creatures come out to feed, crabs, eels, rays, cuttlefish, squid, octopus etc.
28th May - Transfer to Jakarta & Sorong
29th May - Arrive to Misool Resort
Upon arrival at the resort, we will check in to our bungalows, have lunch and an orientation, and then a snorkel on the house reef before dinner.
29th May - 5th June - Snorkeling from Misool Resort
5th June - Transfer to Sorong & Bali
Komodo Resort is set on its own private island in a secluded area of eastern Indonesia. Not only is it on the doorsteps to some of Komodo national Park’s finest snorkeling sites, it has a spectacular and gorgeous house reef, a powder white sand beach for afternoon relaxation and accommodation finely in tune with its surroundings. The abundance of pristine reefs, islands, islets and sandy bays found within range of Komodo Resort would take a lifetime to explore.
The Novotel airport hotel is conveniently located within the Bali airport and offers all the comforts for those looking for a bit of relaxation between flights. Rooms are spacious and equipped with AC, Wi-Fi and hot water showers. There is a roof-top lounge which offers a unique vista of the seaside runway. Outside of the lobby there is an outdoor garden and large swimming pool. The large dinning room is perfect for group meals and serves delicious western and Asian cuisine.
One of the world’s most remote snorkel resorts – Misool Resort – is neatly located on its own private island. The water cottages and villas on the North side of the lagoon rise on stilts over a tranquil lagoon, shaded by limestone cliffs – each one with a set of steps that lead you into the water and the house reef which is just a few fin strokes away.
The restaurant is set back from a white sand beach and serves up a variety of western and Indonesian treats throughout the day, as well as afternoon tea.
All resorts will make every effort to cater to special dietary requirements if prior notice is given. (Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free etc).
Komodo Resort: Large wooden boats complete with gear-up area and partially covered sun deck. Bean bags are on board as well as a marine toilet and fresh water bins for equipment and cameras. Travel time from the resort to the sites can be 20 minutes to one hour. Exit the water via ladders at the back of the boat.
Misool Resort: Spacious fiberglass speedboats with enough room to easily store snorkeling equipment. The boats do not have a toilet onboard but do offer a full canopy for sun protection and a ladder to help exit the water. Distances from the resort average twenty-five minutes.
