If you’re looking for pristine reefs, great chances of manta ray encounters and beautiful scenery above and below the surface then look no further than our Komodo Snorkel Weeks. During our time in Komodo we’ll be located in the heart of the national park, whilst based at the stunning Komodo Resort our days will be spent exploring the range of reefs and marine environments on offer.

hard coral reef with manta swimming through blue water

Much of our time will be spent exploring the shallow fringe reefs that surround the many islands, you can expect pristine hard and soft corals in abundance here as well as busy fish life and the chance of turtles and rays cruising around. Where there’s slightly deeper water it’s possible to see schooling jacks and barracuda. Over the years we have been visiting Komodo, we have snorkeled with manta rays frequently, and whilst we can’t guarantee anything, the opportunities are extremely good.

Ever popular with our previous tour members is the house reef, it’s not uncommon for snorkelers to spend two hours cruising in the shallows here – there is a huge amount of life and it’s great for photography. Most of our guests snorkel the house reef as often as they have time for.

Our resort location is simply breathtaking, with amazing island views from your veranda and a beach bar for ‘Apres snorkel’, it’s a great place to return to and watch the sunset after an amazing day of snorkeling.

Day 1 - Arrive into Bali

Upon arrival into Bali International Airport (DPS), you check into the Novotel Airport Hotel and relax and recover from the long journey.

Day 2 - Transfer to Komodo Resort

Meet the group and your tour leader for a buffet breakfast, check out, and go to the departures hall and check in for your flight to Labuan Bajo.

Komodo Resort Island

Upon landing there, you will be met by a member of the Komodo Resort team and transfer by car (10 minutes) and then by boat (75 minutes) the the stunning secluded island of Sebayur. Here you will be shown to your luxurious beach front bungalows, before an orientation and group meal.

Day 3 - 8 - Snorkeling from Komodo Resort

Days here will look something like this:

Wake up to a buffet breakfast- with all the trimmings.

Then make your way to the boat for the morning snorkel session. Each in-water snorkeling session will be around 60-90 minutes, and will be guided by local snorkel guides and your tour leaders who will point out interesting things while in the water. You will have a site briefing before each session.

Most days you will return to the resort for an a la carte lunch in the restaurant. You will then meet at the boat again and head out for the second session of the day.

On one or two days you may do both sessions in the morning, weather and tide dependent, and then spend the afternoon enjoying the house reef. This reef is expansive and breathtakingly beautiful, and is available at your leisure for snorkeling. There is access off the pier and there is always a lookout person watching out in case of any problems. If you should get stuck in a current they will send a small tender boat to pick you up. If the current is running fast, they can drop you off a ways away from the resort and you can drift slowly back towards the pier to exit the water on one of the wooden ladders.

Manta rays congregating in Komodo National Park

One morning, after breakfast you will travel by boat for about 90 minutes to the island of Rinca. This island is one of the few that still has a population of wild Komodo dragons. Once you arrive, you get off the boat and take a short walk to the ranger station to meet your guide for the morning. Here one usually sees quite a number of dragons lazing in the sun. They are drawn to the ranger station by the smell of food. You then take a short walk, about an hour, along a bush path, where one often encounters more dragons, deer, buffalo and monkeys. There is a small curio shop near the ranger station as well.

Upon return to the boat, you can change into your snorkel wear, as the group will have the opportunity to snorkel two sites on the way back to the resort. On this day, lunch is served on the boat.

Tide and weather dependent, you may have the option of an evening/night snorkel on the house reef, which is a lovely treat as the reef completely transforms after dusk. All the nocturnal creatures come out to feed, crabs, eels, rays, cuttlefish, squid, octopus etc.

Day 9 - Return to Bali, Tour Ends

After breakfast, you check out and transfer back to Labuan Bajo, to the airport for your group flight to Bali. Here you bid farewell to your new friends and the tour ends.

There are 20 rooms at Komodo Resort – 16 Deluxe rooms and 4 family suites all with en suite bathrooms with hot water and Air Conditioning . In the rooms there is a mini bar with cold drinks and also a water dispenser. There’s a spacious veranda for sunset viewing with  chairs and bean bags.

Komodo Resort Island

The restaurant serves up a variety of Indonesian and international meals throughout the day whilst the bar at the front of the beach is a great place to get together at the end of the day for sun downers. There is also an onsite spa to relaxing massages and treatments.
