In early 2020 we ran four awesome tours to Belize by liveaboard (check out the video below). We wanted to create a similar experience but based from a resort, ideal for anyone who doesn't quite have the sea legs for a full week on a boat. Many of our tour leaders run regular trips in Indonesia but the general consensus was that Belize really does have amazing snorkeling and whilst it may not match the diversity in marine life compared to Asia-Pacific it must surely offers some the finest snorkelling reef you will find anywhere in the Caribbean.
This 8 night tour includes 7 nights at Turneffe Atoll and 1 night on Belize mainland for land tours. Turneffe Atoll is the largest coral atoll in Belize, located southeast of Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker, 30 kilometres from Belize City. It is one of three atolls of the Belize Barrier Reef, along with Glover's Reef and Lighthouse Reef. The atoll was officially declared a marine reserve in 2012.
Improve your underwater photography skills on this tour, it will be escorted by photo-pro Alex Lindbloom who will be sharing hints and tips about how to improve your photographs above and below the surface.
This group tour is exclusively for snorkelers. All trips are accompanied by at least one Snorkel Venture guide as well as local guides who are all well versed in the marine life and the reefs. Staff are available to help with water entry and exits, and all snorkel sessions have boat surface support to ensure our safety.
We'll be based at Turneffe Island Resort for a full week of fantastic snorkeling before heading back to mainland Belize for an afternoon of land touring. The tour includes 6 days of snorkeling (2 sessions per day generally lasting 90 minutes each).
The reefs around Turneffe Atoll are characterized by a shallow sandy area with a bunch of mixed coral heads covered in sea fans, sponges, and hard corals. Here the coral comes right up to the surface and it's ideal for getting close to marine life without the need to duck dive. Combined with clear waters and good visibility this makes the snorkeling great for underwater photography. The average depth where we'll spend the majority of our time is around three to ten feet. Here we have the best mix of healthy colorful coral and marine life. Aside from the clear blue water, very mild to absent currents, and vibrant scenery, one of the best things about the snorkeling Belize is that you never run out of reef of explore, they just kept going and going and going
On land we'll visit the archaeological site-Altun Haa. A large van picks us up from Fort Radisson Hotel and drives forty-five minutes through town, along rivers, and past local villages. Our private guide gives us an in depth tour of not only the ruins and what life was like back then, but also gives us some great anecdotes about life in Belize now. One of the unique things about this particular set of Mayan Ruins is that it is still not very well known about by tourists so you can wander around the site in peace and even climb the stone steps to the top of these iconic pyramids.

You will be met at the airport arrivals area and transferred to Turneffe Island Resort on the 26th February 2022.

”I have looked for a just-snorkeling company for a long time and Snorkel Venture is it. Quality and attention to detail are important and Snorkel Venture makes the grade on both. Terrific leaders, know snorkeling and underwater photography — and very delightfully personable” Rebecca, February 2020
