Join us on an amazing adventure to 3 of Indonesia’s premier snorkeling destinations – Alor, Komodo, & Raja Ampat. This tour combines amazing reefs full of colorful marine life big and small, and three fantastic boutique resorts – each with its own amazing house reef. Alor, Komodo, and Raja Ampat are undeniably the crème de la crème of snorkeling destinations.
At our first stop in Alor, you will no doubt be blown away by the sheer beauty of the marine life and reefscapes just beneath the surface. There is also the possibility of coming across a couple of the ocean’s most iconic inhabitants, like a superpod of dolphins and melon head whales, giant ocean sunfish, and even blue whales as we move from site to site. Here in Alor we base ourselves in the secluded resort called Alami Alor, where we will be the only guests and will have exclusive access to their house reefs and embark on snorkeling excursions multiple times a day.
For the second leg of the trip, we move over to Komodo National Park where we will stay with Komodo Resort. This resort is situated on its own private island complete with hiking trails, a spa, gym, decadent meals, and an outstanding house reef. Better yet, the resort is on the doorstep to the national park boundary where we can encounter turtles, reef sharks, cephalopods, and almost certainly giant manta rays. Oh yes of course encounters with the famous Komodo Dragons!
The final leg of this amazing tour will be spent in Raja Ampat, at the wonderful Papua Explorers resort, located in the heart of the Raja Ampat archipelago. Within just a few minutes of the resort, there is a huge variety of snorkeling sites that play host to some of the most diverse marine habitats found anywhere on the planet. Expect truly pristine coral gardens packed with hard and soft corals that carpet the island slopes all the way up to the surface. Masses of fish life explode from the reefs, with good chances of swimming next to bigger fish such as manta rays, reef sharks, and schools of barracuda and jacks.

Day 1 - Arrive Jakarta
Arrive into Jakarta and meet your tour leader at the hotel. Rest and relax. You will then check out for your early morning flight to Alor via Kupang. Upon arriving at Alor you will be met my the Alami staff and escorted via private cars to the resort.
Day 2 - Day 8 - Alami Alor Resort
You’ll spend 7 nights at the beautiful Alami Alor Resort. The first evening is dedicated to getting to know each other with resort orientation and safety briefings along the way. Rest and relax in the comfort of the lounge, check the fish books and watch the sunset over neighboring islands. House reef snorkel may be an option upon arrival depending on the time.
Our mornings at Alami Alor start with Western and Indonesia style breakfasts. Fresh Indonesian coffee, fruit juice, or coconut milk.
We’ll then head to the boats, a short walk along the jetty for the first snorkel session. Groups are split into 6 per boat with at least one guide per group, often 2. We start with easy sites – as little current as possible to allow for a gentle introduction. The time to reach the sites ranges from 10 – 30 minutes.
Each snorkel session will last between 60 and 90 minutes in the water with boat support if you prefer a shorter session. We will always head back to the resort for lunch with most guests taking a quick siesta following the delicious meal. For those that want to absorb every single moment of this amazing resort, you can relax on the verandah and watch the villagers pass by on their hand-dug canoes. In the afternoon we will head to another site for another incredible snorkeling session.
There’s the flexibility to snorkel the house reef at your leisure with a local crew on hand as a lookout. Likewise, we often do a sunset snorkel or night snorkel on the house reef as it’s an excellent spot for critters like nudibranchs and various crustaceans who come out in the evenings. Mandarin fish can also be seen mating in the shallows as the sunsets.
Day 9 - Travel to Komodo
We will depart Alami in the morning and catch our flight to Labuan Bajo via Kupang. Upon arrival in Labuan Bajo we will be met my the Komodo Resort staff who will transport us to the harbor ten minutes away and board their large boat which will then take us to Komodo Resort, about an hour away. After our resort and safety orientation, it’s time to relax, snorkel the house reef, or just chill by the beach bar as the sun sets.
Day 9 - Day 14 - Komodo Resort
You’ll spend 6 nights at Komodo Resort. A full breakfast buffet spread is the order of the day. At around 9.30 we prepare for a day on the boat in the national park. Komodo Resort’s boats are spacious with bean bags on the upper deck which are great for seeing the passing islands and wildlife. It takes around 1hr to reach most sites. Snorkel sessions last between 60 and 90 minutes with boat support if you prefer a shorter session. We stay in the park for the day, taking lunch on the boat and with time to relax in the beanbags on the upper deck as we pass between sites. Returning around 4 pm there’s a chance to explore the impressive house reef. We’ll also include a tour to see the famous Komodo dragons and explore some fantastic trails around the island.
Day 15-16 - Transfer to Jakarta & Sorong
After a big breakfast at the resort, we will make our transfer back to Labuan Bajo to catch our flight to the Jakarta Airport, where we will check into an Airport Hotel for a bit of relaxation and downtime. We will check out for our early morning flight to Sorong. Upon arrival in Sorong we will be met by the Papua Explorers staff who will transfer us to the harbor where we’ll board a private boat to the resort, one and a half hours away. Upon arrival, we will check in to our bungalows, have a snack and orientation, and, time permitting, a snorkel on the house reef. We will then freshen up for dinner.
Day 17 - 22 - Papua Explorers
Our mornings will start with a breakfast buffet, serving a variety of home-baked goods, fruits, hot foods, and juices. We then set off on the speed boats, accompanied by local snorkel guides, to some of the beautiful sites in the area. We will do two different snorkel sites during the course of the morning excursion, each session lasting anywhere from 60- 75 mins, before returning to the resort for lunch. We will have boat and surface support on all our snorkels, as well as in-water local guides to assist and point out interesting marine life.
After lunch, we will head out to another site for our third snorkel session of the day. The house reef is always open for us to snorkel at any time you should choose.
The house reef is accessed via the resort’s own private pier which has an easy-to-climb ladder and platform on the water’s edge for a comfortable entry or exit. The house reef is pretty spectacular and usually ends up being one of the highlights of the trip as the reef just in front of the resort is home to juvenile blacktip reef sharks, schools of fish, vibrant corals, and loads of cool critters. The beauty of the house reef is that you can snorkel it any time you want.
The snorkeling accessible from the resort is highly varied and arguably some of the best in Raja Ampat. In this Dampier Straight region, you will find a multitude of beautiful coral reefs with each offering something different. Some may be situated around unique topography with shallow swim-throughs, while others may just extend for hundreds of meters in every direction. This area is also very popular with the manta rays as there are certain bays and islands that are known to feed and clean at different times of the day. We will also take the opportunity to meander through the famous mangroves where the mangrove tree roots seem to be an extension of the coral reef below.
The marine life is just as diverse as the types of snorkeling sites, the shallow reef tops are a great place to enjoy the rhythmic pulse of the colorful reef fish and admire the determination of the hawkbill sea turtles as they forage for the sponges at the base of corals. In the blue you never know what you might find, but you can count on larger schools of jackfish, batfish, and the odd tornadoes of barracudas. On other sites, we might get lucky with some cleaning or feeding manta rays. This area has the highest species count of anywhere in the world so really, everywhere you look you’re bound to find something truly amazing.
Day 23 - Papua Explorers
We leave the resort on a morning boat transfer, in time to get our flight from Sorong to Jakarta where we bid farewell to our new friends. The tour ends here.

The abundance of pristine reefs, islands, islets, and sandy bays found within the range of Komodo Resort would take a lifetime to explore.
